Where do we work?
Ms. Delivery is focused on a beautiful corridor of the aptly named "Garden Route", a stretch that runs between George and Knysna in the southern Western Cape Province in South Africa. Many of the community birth clients are located in the township community adjacent to Hoekwil called Touws Ranten, a settlement that was created during apartheid years so that people of color would be far removed from the nicer, white only areas. Unfortunately, the legacy of apartheid lives on in that these communities are located far from commercial centers (and remain semi-rural), have poor access to services, and often foster higher numbers of unemployment and, thus, crime. Unfortunately, the effects of this heinous practice continue today, perpetuating the racial separation and discrimination that was the hallmark of pre-1994 South Africa.
We believe the key to moving forward is integration. Integration of services, lifestyles, access to care and, by doing so, creating a sense of community that extends beyond the traditional barriers. It is our hope that providing our highly specialized service, private midwifery care and complete support for pregnant mothers, we can, in our own way, uplift and empower these women and their families.

Our Facilities
The on-site Birth Cottage in Hoekwil consists of a two bedroom, one bathroom chalet adjacent to the main house. It is fully equipped to accommodate a labouring woman as well as her partner or family members who wish to stay with her. Thanks to a generous donation of furniture, we have recently been outfitted with extra chairs, a couch, tables and a giant linen cabinet to keep track of all of the necessary accoutrements and specialty items a birthing woman may need. We have done our best to make the cottage as homey and comfortable as possible, and have decorated with pregnancy themed artwork and midwifery inspired designs that celebrate the incredible power of women's bodies.
Immediately outside of the cottage is a maternity herb garden, stocked with many of the medicinal plants that have aided women through the ages, and cultivated by midwives with specialized knowledge of these plants and their capabilities. From these plants, tinctures, oils, teas and many other remedies can be whipped up should there be a need for them.
