This includes six separate prenatal visits where the mother's health and lifestyle are monitored closely. The mother is then given the option to give birth in our private birth cottage with the use of a pool for a water birth.
Ms. Delivery is committed to giving the women and families of Touwsranten and the greater Eden area the same quality and quantity of care that any of the private clients who come to the Eden Natural Birth Center receive.
Because the nurturing of a child as it grows in utero is such an important component to ensuring the baby is born healthy and with minimal risk to mother or child, Eden Natural Birth focuses on a multitude of aspects of the mother’s life. This includes a complete evaluation of their health, lifestyle choices, nutrition, emotional wellbeing and any other nuances that may have an effect on the developing baby.
With such an intensive and in-depth approach, six separate prenatal visits are required. During each of these, the mother will be counseled on any of the aforementioned issues as well as have her vital signs checked, the fetal heart tones monitored, the position of her baby evaluated as well as monitored for any common pregnancy issues. Unfortunately, in disadvantaged communities, pregnant mothers are at risk for many issues that are easily preventable under the Midwifery Model of Care. In South Africa specifically, these issues include but are not limited to hypertension, diabetes, preeclampsia, fetal alcohol syndrome, restricted fetal growth, and many others.
This sponsorship also includes the ability for the mother to give birth in the center, a two bedroom cottage that has been especially equipped to accommodate a woman in the final stages of her pregnancy and as her labor and birth begin. The center also gives these women the option to participate in a water birth, a unique experience that allows the laboring mother to lay in a pool of water to alleviate pain and facilitate an easier delivery. The cottage also includes a private bathroom as well as all of the linens, savers and other supplies that might be needed throughout labor and birth. Oxygen for resuscitation as well as IV drips, sutures, and all pharmaceuticals are on-site and ready to go in case they are needed.
